Despite the large quantity of research projects about online learning, studies on students’ language learning motivation, self-efficacy belief, and metacognitive strategy use in setting are limited. The present paper aims to fill this gap through assessing learners’ strategies, their perceived progress English learning. Responses surveys were administered two times. collected data subject longitudinal mediation analysis. participants a total 627 university students China. Results showed positive significant relationship among four variables. findings highlighted patterns. Overall, belief predicted which turn motivation progress. supported mediating role strategies. potential enhance by facilitating
